Toad's Place Richmond is located in the Historic Shockoe Entertainment District along the Canal Walk in the Lady Byrd Hat Building, the only historic building at canal level and across from the Turning Basin, where canal boats are docked.
The main entrances to Highwater and Toad's Place are down the stairs to the left if facing the front of the Lady Byrd Hat Building or one can enter from the canal level entrance door for Highwater or the double doors/main entrance to Toad's Place.
Set up at our front doors on Virginia Street is Park 4 U Valet Services. For $10 they will take care of your car for the evening taking the stress of finding a space downtown and will put you steps away from our front door.
Toad's Place does not have its own parking lot. However, like other downtown businesses, we rely on our customers to use paid parking decks (garages), surface lots, street parking, OR USE Park 4 U Valet Services!!!
Street parking is not available on Virginia Street once you pass Canal Street. Please park on another street, in a parking deck or surface parking lot before heading down the street as it is narrow and turn-arounds can be difficult.
Also, DO NOT PARK in the parking lot adjacent to Toad’s Place. Although it may LOOK like our lot, it is not, and you WILL BE TOWED. In addition, do not park directly in front of the building as this is also a tow-away zone.

- Over 3,000 ‘premium’ spaces are available in the Shockoe Slip area and can be found within minutes of Toad's Place
- 1,500+ spaces are also available on streets or in small and outlying surface lots

From West of Richmond
Find your way onto the Downtown Expressway/S-195 (Go through toll plaza, 50¢ max). Take the 7th St./ US-60/9th St./Manchester Bridge exit. Once you're off the expressway, get into the middle/right lane and keep STRAIGHT to go onto E. Byrd Street which becomes S. 12th Street. as it bears left. Stay in the right lane & turn RIGHT onto E. Canal Street. Turn RIGHT onto Virginia Street. Toad's Place is on the right hand side.
From East of Richmond
Take I-64 W toward Richmond, Merge onto I-95 S / Richmond-Petersburg Turnpike via EXIT 190 on the LEFT, Take the Franklin St. exit (Exit 74B), Turn RIGHT onto E. Franklin St., Turn LEFT onto N. 14th St., Turn RIGHT onto E. Canal St., Turn LEFT onto Virginia St. Toad's Place is on the right-hand side.
From the North
Take I-95 S toward Richmond, Take the Franklin St. exit- EXIT 74B. Turn RIGHT onto E Franklin St. Turn LEFT onto N 14th St. Turn RIGHT onto E. Canal St. Turn LEFT onto Virginia St. Toad's Place is on the right-hand side.
From the South
Take I-95 N toward Richmond, Merge onto I-195 N / VA-195 W / Downtown Expressway via EXIT 74A toward I-195 (Portions toll). Take the Canal St. exit toward US-60. Turn SLIGHT LEFT onto E. Canal St. Turn RIGHT onto S. 10th St. Turn RIGHT onto E. Cary St./ US-60 E / VA-147 N. Turn RIGHT onto Virginia St. Toad's Place is on the right hand side.
